How is this for a view out your RV window? Really amazing. We stopped for two days at the Red Canyon Campground because of its camp hosts Barbara and Steve Lynch (more on them in another post).
This hidden treasure is on Hwy 12, a National Scenic Byway, only a few miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park and sits in the shadow of the Hoodoos (odd-shaped pillars of rock left standing from the forces of erosion). There are several wonderful day hikes, and an eight-mile bicycle path, near the Dixie National Forest Red Canyon Visitor Center and the campground.
Red Canyon Campground has 37 tent and RV camping sites, each with a picnic table, fire ring and grill (most of these are positioned in a shady spot). There are no hookups for water, electricity or sewer. However, water and restrooms are available throughout the park. Showers (8 minutes for $2), water fill stations, and an RV dump are within the campground.
Cost is $15/night ($7.50 with senior pass). The campground is usually open May to September, depending on weather.
