McCall ready for summer, RVers, campers rolling in

McCall, Idaho, long known as a winter destination, is yawning, stretching its arms and reaching for the sun. Each day more and more RVs are streaming into the region, drawn by the many recreational activities, including boating and fishing on Payette Lake.

We stayed at the Ponderosa State Park for around $30/night (includes tax) for electricity and water. The park sits on a 1,000-acre peninsula that juts into beautiful Payette Lake. Directional signs are posted to guide visitors from the town of McCall to the park entrance.

During the summer season, the park offers hiking and biking trails, guided walks with park naturalists and evening campfire programs. It is within easy bicycling distance (about 2 miles) from downtown McCall.
