RV safety reminders

rvfire_MacMcCoyFire is one of the greatest safety hazard in recreation vehicles, so it is wise to review a few holiday safety tips from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

While most of the items are common sense, they are a good reminder of simple things we can do to help keep our families and RVs safe during the Holiday Season.

Tips for a safer holiday:

• Inspect holiday lights each year for frayed wires, bare spots and excessive kinking or wear before putting them up.

• Connect strings of lights to an extension cord before plugging the cord into the outlet.

• Consider using battery-operated flameless candles, which can look, smell and feel like
real candles.

• If you do use lit candles, make sure they are in stable holders, and place them where they
cannot be knocked down easily.
