I was prepared not to be impressed with South Llano River (Texas) State Park (about 150 miles west of San Antonio and 5 miles south of I-10 and Junction, TX) … much of the park is closed to the public because of the annual Turkey Roost … cutting off the majority of the hiking trails and access to the river … however there are a number of wildlife viewing blinds and deer, along with the wild turkeys, are everywhere.
This is a delightful, keenly taken care of public campground that is the favorite of many Texans and out of state visitors.
The sites are generous with covered picnic tables, flat paved pads and campfire circles. Hot showers and flush toilets are open 24/7. Water and electricity are available. Verizon broadband connection is spotty.
