Organized RV tours, Part 6 — A sampling of RV tour companies, prices

This is the final installment of a six part series on Organized RV Tours. Below is a handful of commercial RV tour operators and their contact information … along with sample prices.

Adventures Caravans (adventurecaravans.com), toll-free (800) 872-7897. Tours around the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as special bird watching and golf tours.

Sample: 2014 price for 36-day South Africa-A Photo Safari; $23,998 two people, $18,199 solo. A deluxe adventure tour that includes culture, scenery, exotic animals and local people that make for “a unique and life changing experience.” Includes 20-foot, diesel class C motor home.

Baja Winters Travel Club (bajawinters.com), telephone: (760) 298-8527. Owners and wagonmasters John and Becky Smith have been traveling Mainland Mexico and the Baja Peninsula for more than 40 years. They personally lead three tours a year to Baja Peninsula.

Sample: 2014 price for 30-day trip is $1,695 per rig. This relatively economical price “includes all camping fees while with caravan.” All activities are optional. Instead of ‘pre-paying’ for activities, “you can choose and pay for what you want to do or just hang out on the beach,” according to the Web site.

Fantasy RV Tours (fantasyrvtours.com), toll-free (800) 952-8496. At least 40 different itineraries around North America and off-shore caravans in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and South Africa.

Sample: 2014 price for 26-day trip to Canadian Maritimes: two people: $4,495; one person: $3,695. Includes 25 nights RV parking, 40 events and tours, 15 meals.

Yankee RV Tours (yankeervtours.com), toll-free (888) 961-9400. Since 1995, more than 3,000 RVers have joined caravans in small groups averaging 15 rigs. Yankee RV Tours specialize in caravans to the Canadian Maritimes, Upper Great Lakes, and New England Fall Foliage.

Sample: 22-day Northeast Fall Foliage tour that begins in Boothbay, Maine, and ends in Burlington, Vermont; estimated 2013 price for two people: $4,195; solo: $2,985.

European Motorhome Tours (rvtoureurope.com), call (520) 205-0841. “Just bring your personal items. A late model, fully equipped rental motor home is included in your overseas tour package,” according to Web site.

Sample: A 29-day, 2,260-mile trip through “Germany, Italy and the magnificent Alps of Switzerland and Austria.” Estimated 2013 price: $13,980 for two; $7,990 solo traveler. Does not include airfare.
