According to an item this week by Brad Carlson in the Idaho Business Review, travel-trailer manufacturer Dutchmen is bucking the current economic trend.

Dutchmen is adding manufacturing positions in Indiana, where the company is based even though some prospective buyers are short on disposable income, writes Carlson.

Trent Ferrin, Dutchmen Human Resources Manager in Burley, Idaho, said the company recently has held its headcount steady and is not anticipating a layoff this winter.

“Having a steady workforce is critical in the manufacture of an RV,” Ferrin said. “Stability is huge.” Dutchmen increased its training, as a knowledgeable, experienced workforce is “the key to building a quality travel trailer.”
