Year round RVers make their way along I-40 in Arizona. Even in the winter (when it can be really, really cold in elevations between 4,000-5,000) sometimes you have to find a place to camp / park overnight.
If you are, like us, people who prefer a more natural setting–instead of a commercial RV park–consider making a stop before 5 p.m. at the Homolovi Ruins State Park north of Winslow, Ariz.
Off of I-40, take Exit 247 north (near Winslow, between Flagstaff, Ariz., and the New Mexico border). The Homolovi Visitor Center features exhibits and gift shop. Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Our back-in site was $20 with 30 amp electricity. Showers and restrooms are available throughout the year.
