Arizona’s Lake Alamo State Park is located well off any interstate highway in the high desert northwest of Phoenix and southeast of Lake Havasu City.
But, ask the locals at a grocery store in Parker, AZ, and they know about Lake Alamo and many go there to camp and fish.
According to the Arizona State Parks: “anglers have an excellent opportunity to catch bluegill, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and black crappie.”
Alamo Lake, located on the Bill Williams River where the Big Sandy River and Santa Maria River come together, was created with the completion of Alamo Dam in 1968.
Because it is about 40 miles from the nearest city, stargazing is said to be unbelievable.
