Thanksgiving RV trip to Florida ‘Ali family style’

Share

Each Thanksgiving holiday, thousands of families  select to travel by recreation vehicle, including the Ali family from New York City.

In her article posted on Pathos: Hosting the Conversation on Faith, writer Dilshad Ali talks about the challenges of taking a family holiday trip with an autistic child, Lil D.

The Ali family wanted to spend Thanksgiving week together, to make memories with their children and parents–and to have fun. After much thinking, she writes, they decided to rent an RV and drive to Florida.

“This is our new mode of travel,” she writes, “where everyone can go together, where all diets and sensory obligations and need for space are accommodated to the best of our abilities, and most importantly, where we have a space that Lil D can retreat to when the need arises.”
