‘Winter Texan’ RVers are everywhere

Rockport_Marina_JulianneCraneA quick look around Rockport-Fulton and other Texas snowbird destination towns such as Bandera, “The Cowboy Capital of the World,” the number of Winter Texans, (out-of-state RVers who choose to spend their winters in the Lone Star State) is up this season.

It might be the lower cost of fuel; or maybe the brutal weather in the mid-West and Northeast. Whatever the reason, the number of out-of-state license plates seem to out number Texas plates at the local cinema and grocery store.

We enjoy this part of the Coastal Bend of Texas for many reasons. Both Jimmy and I love to bicycle around the small communities of Rockport and Fulton. We can safely use two-wheel transportation along the beach road and on shady side streets through quiet neighborhoods.

Monthly rentals for RV parks are reasonable ($300-$400/month) and the weather is moderate and mostly pleasant.

For excitement, Corpus Christi is just 26 smile southwest; and for wonder, about the same distance northeast is the Aransas National Wildlife Reserve where the magnificent, endangered Whooping Cranes return each winter.
