Kevin Justis of Rio Rico, Ariz., just sent in an e-mail about their 1995 Freedom Deluxe Casita that he and his wife, Jane, purchased in the summer of 2006.

“We have more than 800 nights in it and think it might be one of our best purchases in our 47 years of marriage,” wrote Kevin. “The tandem bike on the back would be in the race for best buy.

“The small solar panel was a wonderful gift from a great friend who no longer had need of it. It is the gift that keeps giving and along with a conversion to LED lights, has made us really self-sufficient for a week or more of boondocking.

“We took the decals off last summer and wish we had done that when we first acquired it. The clean lines of the egg look better without the clutter.

“Recently it was used as a quarantine area when I was sick and Jane was trying to stay healthy, another good use for a trailer,” he said.

  • Oh, I love this! Robert and I have done camping in a pop-up, and we’re headed for full-time in a 5th wheel at the end of April… Thanks for the encouraging post. (maybe we need to try a tandem bike!)

(Oh, and we’ve got our eye on a portable solar panel too – thanks for that info!)
